Tidying Up

Wildlife are attracted to food sources and your bins are one of the most obvious. If they already have good lids but keep getting knocked over it’s time to bungee the lids shut or even move them inside your garage overnight.

The culprit is usually raccoons and they’ll desist if they don’t get food from your bins. But, if you find you have one in your attic you may have a litter of babies present. You’ll need a professional in proper gear to remove these, they can carry a variety of diseases.

The tidier your yard is the less attractive it will be to wildlife.

Traps

If you do capture the wildlife alive then make sure you release it a good distance from your home. If you’re in the city you may need to contact animal control for them to handle the release in an appropriate spot.

Chili

Chili peppers are actually very effective at keeping an array of wildlife away from your home. This isn’t just planting them. You need to chop the chilies up, add some chopped yellow onion, and 2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper. Then boil in water for 20 minutes before straining and spraying the liquid around your garden.

It’s also worth noting that garlic is effective at keeping deer and many other wildlife away from your garden.

You’ll need to mince two cloves of garlic and add 4 cups of boiling water. Once cooled it can be placed in a spray bottle and dispersed as you wish.
